A few people have asked\u00a0how we put our light box together. I thought there might be more questions out there, so I put together this how-to for our light box for baby. This activity was inspired by Pinterest, so you can also do a Pinterest search for variations on this light box.<\/p>\n

Supplies: Clear plastic container (a 32 Qt container that fits under the bed is pictured) and Christmas lights.<\/p>\n

Spread the Christmas lights at the bottom of the container. Pull the end of the Christmas lights out at one corner. Put the lid back on (it will fit over the lights). Plug it in and you are good to go!<\/p>\n

I then searched the house for items to place on the box. For one activity, I filled a gallon size bag with water and bingo chips. (Make sure you reinforce all sides with duck tape to keep the water in!) Baby girl was mesmerized with the movement of the water and the light shining through the bingo chips!<\/p>\n

For another activity, I filled a gallon size bag with blue hair gel and glitter and taped it down to the lid of the box. Again, baby loved spreading the hair gel around and watching the light shine through.<\/p>\n

This is a great sensory\/play activity for baby to expose her to light\/dark and manipulating objects. You can build baby’s language while you are playing with this by describing what she is feeling and seeing.<\/p>\n
